Captures the enemies base

PvP is probably what attracted me to Guild wars the most. For those who love PvP as much as I do, Factions is a must have game, as it allows massive 'Captures the enemies base' type games, while still offering Guild versus Guild battles and the Arenas. One good thing about PvP is the fact that you can start of at lvl 20 (the maximum level) to enter the arenas of Alliance Battles straight away. For every kill you or your team makes, you unlock faction which can be used to purchase skills for your PvP chars, allowing you to make them stronger. You can also bring your role playing characters to PvP, to test out your characters strengths and weaknesses. Guild vs Guild battles are possibly the most innovative PvP part of the game. After making or joining a guild, your guild can acquire its own island with a fortress.

Get Guild Wars

I have always said to myself that I wouldn't play WOW because I knew I would be putting so much money into something that would get me nowhere. So you're probably thinking what I'm going to say next is, "but when I found Guild Wars, everything changed!" Guild Wars is incredible, because it’s not really an RPG. Well, it is, but its more like Kingdom Hearts mixed with WOW and Spiderman 2, all of which you only pay 30 dollars for and then never again if you want. The one thing no one ever seems to mention is that this game has CUT SCENES. Actual cut scenes with your party in them, that's why the character customization is limited, and it really isn’t even that. The graphics are beautiful, the storyline brilliant, the action riviting. And when you finish the game, its not over, you just run around doing quests and getting more skills.

An amazing game

This is an amazing game. I rarely give out a score this high but this game deserves it. This is the only mmorpg that I have EVER seen that is NOT a grind-fest. It is way easier to level up in this game by doing quests rather than killing monsters since the higher the level the less experience you get from monsters. A lot of people think that the level 20 gap is bad but I think it is a good idea. If the main level was 100 and you are level 1 it seems so far away but with the max level being 20 it actually seems achievable. The skills are great. My only complaint is the pvp for only one reason. If you are like me and only play prophecies then this is really annoying. What happens is that assassins and dervishes which are extremely strong and have great skills come over to prophecies and completely destroy everybody.

Live holders smiling and laughing

Please ignore skippy1010's review as he has no idea what he speaks of. World of Warcraft is a constant grindfest with a near 99% linear feel included with a painstaking monthly fee that will leave xbox live holders smiling and laughing. First of all let me say and this is my honest opinion and a fact to boot that Guild Wars looks fantastic and a bit on the cartooney side which is a plus to those who like very in depth art and a great promise for constant rising potential.

A brilliant game

Great game play and is classed to have the best PvP ever. I might be annoying that the level cap is 20 but when the new guild wars game (Guild Wars 2 coming in 2008) the level cap should be increased to lvl 100. I’ve played this game for over 14 months and I still get excitement. If you get bored of this game as you've completed the games already you just have to challenge yourself through the map by soling certain maps. Great Game! It is true, guild wars gets boring after a few months. I beat all of them (except for GWEN) and it got boring so I rate guild wars an 8. GW is a GOOD game but not the best I’d ever played. It’s one of those games you would enjoy for like a few months and get bored of. But during the first few months of playing you’ll have fun with it.

Guild is the most essential theme of Guild Wars

Other than character development the Guild is the most essential theme of Guild Wars. Joining the Guild maybe hard at first if you’re really new, but if you get lucky someone may recruit you into their guild. Joining the Guild maybe easy, but finding the good, decent, cooperating guild is hard. Most guild’s have problems these days, it’s usually players within the Guild being inactive for couple weeks, being on and off sporadically, and people not helping you because they are concern with their own affairs. If you participate Guild vs Guild or AB you’ll have lots of fun if you win now and then. If you keep losing you’ll easily loses hope and leaves the Guild. So joining the right guild is important to your entertainment or else if you join a losing guild then you won’t have any fun.

Owning a Guild is a different story

I was a leader of my Guild for a while until I had to hand it to another friend of mine. The problem of the guild is that many members are usually inactive for a few days. It may not sound so bad but when you actually run a Guild it gets pretty annoying. You NEED people in order to run a guild. Officers from my experience are most likely to be on everyday only if you promote the RIGHT ONES. Getting people into your guild will be hard. Most people who join will be newbs since your Guild is new, no veterans or experienced players would want to join. It’s not rare but it’s hard to get experienced players. Since most people are in a guild already recruiting will be hard. However the good side of having a Guild maybe community if your manage to make a Good guild. Having your guild participate Alliance Battle and Guild vs Guild can be pretty fun.

Problems of Guild wars

Problems of Guild wars seem to weigh more than the pros. The marketing or buying armors and weapons can be pretty annoying and frustrating. Unlike Diablo II and other rpg games you to go to a crafter and have weapons and armors crafted. You need materials and rare materials in order to have the weapons and armors crafted. Buying materials or finding them, including rare materials can be hard. Rare materials cost A LOT, buying enough of them to get a set of armors is a ridiculous amount of price. You have to understand that in Guild Wars accumulating gold is not all too easy like in Diablo II. If you sell your items to an NPC merchant they buy it for a really cheap price which is not a very good profit. Selling them to players is better but it takes times since players are humans and they have to decide whether they want your products or not.

Low variety of weapons and armors compare to other RPG games

The variety of weapons and armors are very low compare to other RPG games I’d played. Finding a special weapon with magic is hard, at least from my experience. You won’t be finding a cool looking weapon lying on a ground next to a corpse of a giant because it’s rare. You will find good weapons now and then but usually they’re not always what you want. You also will NEVER find armors lying on a ground you have to buy them. Doing missions and quest in a party is fun if you have friend with you rather than henchmen who are incapable of doing certain things that a normal player would do. Playing with other players is fun but when you do a quest and mission they can log off right in the middle of it.

Guild wars are a good and decent game

In conclusion of this very long essay of GW, I say Guild wars are a good and decent game. The graphic is good, the game play is good, and basically everything is good but not great or bad. It’s hard to control a guild, it’s extremely inconvenient to buy weapons and armors, and being with a party can be a pain in the A$$ when people leave right in the middle of a mission. The Game has both major and minor flaws, and it really can’t be fixed. So if you’re asking me, "So do you recommend this game?" I would say it really depends, me personally I liked this game but I eventually got bored of it. If you know what I’m talking about even though you never played this game then doesn’t waste your money. It’s a pretty good game. But id say WoW is better.
